Student project
Augmented Reality
Childish Illness
A blend of augmented reality mobile gaming and traditional choose-your-own-adventure books.
About the project
Childish Illness is a student project created alone, with two constraints: to respect a palette of childish pastel colors and to develop an augmented reality application. I chose to make it a mobile game associated with a paper book.
The player embodies a person confronted with a strange illness in a dystopian world. The actions taken in the application determine the next page of the book, creating a hybrid narrative between physical media and digital experience.
My role in the project
Writing and paper books
Story design, complete writing, and creation of the paper book.
Staging and shooting
Preparation, staging, and shooting of photos for AR recognition via Vuforia, then retouching.
Drawing and animation
Creation of 2D assets while respecting the imposed palette, and animations created in After Effects.
Development of the AR application
Development of the application with Vuforia, integration of visuals, programming, sound design, VFX, testing and adjustments.
